Knock Rooms: Endless Knockers, my rant

Okay. This is something that makes me insane. We've all been there before, I'm sure. You create a gameroom, stroke, real, whatever. You are planning on having certain friends join, so you set it up with the KNOCK option. You let your friends in, and say no to a random person.

And then they knock again. and again. and.....

1st Knock: I'm thinking, umm some stranger? No thanks, waiting on pals. I click NO, not thinking anything of the refusal.
2nd Knock: Okay, I click NO again. Perhaps they thought I was in golfer select mode, and just wanted to try again. That makes sense.
3rd Knock: I'm thinking, Ummm, I said NO, but thanks for trying. So, just to make sure they understand, I wait a few seconds before clicking NO this time, hoping that they will realize it is an INTENTIONAL refusal. Five seconds pass, and again, I click NO.
4th Knock: HELLO. Stubborn much? No is clicked quickly this time, and at this point, Im wondering where the heck my friends are, so i can start the blasted game.
5th Knock: Now, you're pizzing me off. Both the slow-joining friend AND especially, the endless knocker. I click NO yet again, tapping my foot, rolling my eyes, and sighing DEEPLY, out loud in a hugely exaggerated fashion.
6th Knock: FFS What part of NO did they NOT understand??? NO NO NO.
7, 8, 9, 10++ At this point, I think the person knocking is a moron. I'm sorry, but i do. Either that or someone with serious issues. And if my slow-joining friends don't hurry, they might just get left behind,. I can only stomach so much knocking.

If you get refused 3times, don't bother knocking a fourth time. LOL I dont think that ANYONE accidentally refuses someone three times. Once okay, twice, maybe. three times? It's probably on purpose.

Perhaps it hurts a friends feelings to be refused (sometimes that happens --- because already have enough pals planning to join, and for THAT im sorry) But when some random stranger knocks a dozen times, thats just ridiculous.

I have actually had a few people (will NOT mention names, but GRRRRRRR) send me NASTY messages when they were refused. Ive been called a b----, a moron, a jerk, and others. FOUR different people have sent me angry mail about being refused entry to a gameroom.

Well, I rarely create rooms, so I don't have that problem, but I did have the reverse problem a while ago: I created a room requiring owner permission, which was supposed to be for just me and my friend to have a little practice. But, I did the "hit NO when selecting character" thing. Then he knocks again, so I let him in ...... only to find it was somebody else :D Eventually we get going with the 3 of us :D :D :D To be fair, he did ask if he should leave, but we said he could stay :)

Fair point, think I may have been guilty of doing this once or twice, but only when I was ever so slightly intoxicated. Never reached double figures, though.

Really, I'm not quite so crabby --- until they start knocking 6times or so, THEN I start rolling those eyes. ::)
And yeah, Ive also accidentally let in strangers before. I let em stay too. I couldnt imagine asking someone to leave!!! (Though when i did it on a stroke game that already had 3friends joining---->we did quit the room and leave the new person there alone) OOPS!!! lol (sorry buddy!)

This happens sometimes, but I think they are really young kids like 10-12. They probably can't understand why they can't play.

But yeah I get that occasionally. I normally don't put a Knock option on the game unless I'm playing stroke game with one other person. I hate refusing people but do you really think 3 people are going to play 6 holes in under 15 minutes? Not bloody likely.

Pretty much I'd say if you weren't told about the gameroom to begin with than don't bother knocking, unless creator is like a really good friend, and even then, don't bother knocking if it's a stroke game.

I'm not saying you don't have a right to refuse entry, but its a shame there's not a function that would let you say, "Piss Off, It's for friends only". And not hurt anyone's feelings.

There is an option to name the game room

for example "solicitors will be shot"

But people usually ignore it anyways :(

And there IS an option to make it for friends, but I've had a LOT of problem with that feature. 1st, some ppl don't know how to filter the room-list. (sighs) 2nd) People ON my friends list have occassionally NOT had the room show up in THEIR room list. and 3rd) Sometimes friends are joining who are NOT on my blasted list!!!!

Say what? Plenty of custom-named rooms. Few friends-only rooms. Mostly regular rooms with knock option. If you see one, knock. If you're refused, create another room and have fun. People should feel free to knock, but if no one answers the door and lets you in, well.... whatre ya gonna do. Move on to the next door and knock on that one. Or like i said, make another room LOL

It was disappointing because it ended it a network error for mace. I really didn't even care to see whose side won, I was just super excited to see a match that was broadcasted over the net :)

Anyway, back on topic. I didn't know there was an option to name rooms! Dag, I'm definitely going to use that in the future. I seem to always be the one to set up the match game, and sometimes random people knock. If I know them, I'll let them in and explain what's up (and let them stay if they want).

I do wish there was a set of "refusal comments" that you can pick from when saying no to knockers (but how can you say no to knockers? :P ). Anyway, I usually don't even bother trying to join other people's restricted games (especially stroke). Obviously, they're restricting it for a reason.

1. Yup, sure is. When you create gameroom, on the second screen BEFORE you click x to enter your room, if you hit square instead, it brings up hsg keyboard, and you can type in name of room there. Handy feature :) ;)
2. Refusal comments would be AWESOME!!! Great idea for an update!!! :D Would be nice feature! Perhaps:
* Sorry, all game spots reserved already.
* Sorry, looking for small game right now. Maybe next time.
* Umm, no strangers right now. Don't feel like entertaining (lol)
* Hi FRIEND, Can we game later maybe? :))
Heck, anything. Itd be a great idea :)

Refused 7 knocks from a stranger. Later came out into lobby, blasted g3 followed me around hitting me over n over n over. I would say, hey, they're new to game. But this g3 was a level 16, so --- at least a g1. >:( YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, And You Should Know Better By Now! >:(

I don't use the knock feature much when I make a game room. I use the "Friends Only" option when I want to shoot around with people on my buddy list for stroke mode.
