Just a curious question...Does anyone know the determing factor for the starting postions before a tourney begins? I thought it was alphabetical, but that doesn't seem to be the answer.

Are you talking about the way people are listed in a real tournament before Hole 1?

When you register for the tournament. If you are the first one to book the tournament you will be the first one on the list.

Yes, I am talking about the listing in a real tournament. I have signed up for a tournament where I was number 21 out of 50 and still ended up at the top of the board.

Then maybe it is the first one to respond at the 90 second countdown.
Or maybe it is random. I don't know why I thought HSG would have set up a system that a person could figure out :)

Good one Roughdawg! I'll give that one a try. I haven't played many tournaments, but I always seem to be first or in the top 5. (Not that I end up in first at the end!)
Yesterday, I thought I remember setting up my golfer then going back and changing clubs and coming back a spot higher.

Once you reach the golfer select screen you are ranked.

Just as an FYI i've been toying with this for a few tourneys and i'm pretty sure this is the case. Its when you respond "Yes or No" to the tourney while still waiting in the lobby. Whoever clicks first will be sorted first in the initial tourney list,.

I'm almost certain the order is driven by connection speed. This is why all non-JPN players show up at the bottom of the starting order for Minna tournaments.

I agree with Smug. I think it's connection speed also. I have a great connection and no matter what happens I am nearly always first. Regardless of whether I'm first to reserve or not.

I agree with the connection theory.
Sometimes I get 1st on OOB but I'm always near the bottom of Minna tours
I think it is a ping thing.

So this would be a good reason why we are so unlucky when it comes to jumping tournaments in Minna then too. :'(

i always mash away on the x button upon character selection (if preregistered) and make the first ten about 75% of the time
buuuut, i have seen people mysteriously squeak in the top 10 outta nowhere after the list appears

this is usually people who have pre-registered for the tournament, turned up, left due to a network error or other reasons, then coming back to fill there space.
This happens in game rooms too, if you own a room, leave and some1 else is there, They get the Ownership of the room, but your still be Number 1 on the list.

i find that robg001 is always near the top, im always at the bottom of the list...........infact when i chat to plumsmuggler i usually have to scroll up to see what he is saying....
if as morph says its you reaction to the 90 second countdown then ..half the time when that comes up i go and have a cig and let the computer just place me in while the YES/NO option is still there on the screen

I am first on the grid about 25-50% of the time. Dunno why. But I always want to stay there!!! If not first I am usually in the top ten or so, especially during daytime, which is when most europeans play on their nights.
I personally think it is a ping thing. Maybe the server headquarters is at my neighbor's house.
Next tourney I would like to see where everyone is from and see if there is any "order" to it.....
