About a month ago, I came up with an idea to start a season tournament for the PSP using the HSG: OT2 console. So far, it has been a success. 2 or more people seem to be joining every week. I have advertised this tournament on websites such as PlayStation.com for the U.S.A and the U.K. HSG Forums. I have also advertised it on gamespot.com So far there is just U.S.A participation, but hopefully it will become a more diverse competition worldwide, especially with players from Japan. With this being said, does everyone think it possible that HSG Season Tournaments be held for the PS3 and PSP worldwide with individual and team concepts; like there are for televised XBOX 360 consoles, such as the CGS Season (Championship Gaming Series), where they have team drafting, U.S. Season Tournaments, Playoffs, and worldwide championships all taking place in a gaming stadium. With the popularity of the HSG series, I believe something like this could work out in the near future, during the summer of course, with the PS3 and PSP consoles. There could be a season using all the golf courses in the game, with Major Championships being the harder courses. Then there could be something like a Ryder Cup, where the best players from the U.S.A, Japan, and other countries compete on courses, which are not included in the game, that are designed specifically for Match Play/ Foursomes/One-on-One (individual Match Play) competition. I feel this is something that HSG producers and designers should take a look at. Personally, I think it would be a success!

Wow. That's a lot of stuff. It's pretty ambitious. I'm sure it COULD be done and would work if there was participation on the JP side. Just going off the GoG status I've been tracking for the last week, about 85% of the GoG's are JP, about 8% US and 6% EU (UK, IT, FR). I wonder if they already have some type of league stuff going on over in Japan?
It's a shame they didn't include a team tournament mode, 4-ball mode, best ball/scramble mode and 4 person rotating team match play (you change partners every 6 holes). Playing on a match play system with Nassau's, automatic pushes, greenies, sandies and barkies would be awesome. If they had included some of those types of things HSGOT2 would have been much more of a sequel than just an expansion (not that I'm complaining, I love the new courses and accessorizing).
Another thing I would love to see is some real handicapping developed just like in real golf, i.e., play five rounds, one on each of the first five courses (all 18h) and then set a handicap off of those results. Then in all league play you would play off your handicap. Of course the handicap would be adjusted after each round (so people who sandbagged on their initial handicap rounds would quickly get a handicap in line with their real capabilities). With real handicaps there could be many different awards/"things to strive for" other than just the absolute best golfer. There would be a winner based on their handicap, person with the most improved handicap and there could be different awards based on results for each tournament.
Further, I'd be happy to see the league play expand from once/week to two or three times/week.
P.S.- Thanks for advertising the league on GameFaqs, that's were I saw it.
