Does anyone have a factual reason why so many tournaments are 'advanced shots only'?
We were on last night, and couldn't get in a decent tournament for an hour.

I'm not looking for replies telling me how much better the advanced shot is... I know the benefits, but choose to shoot traditional.

I can't possibly think of a good reason why every tournament shouldn't be open to both shots.
If you're a G2, you're a G2, ADVANCED, or TRADITIONAL... Both shots are acceptable, both shots play, and both shots use the same grading system.
Why should they (and does anybody know who 'they' is?) care which shot it used.
If anything, the ADVANCED shooter will have the edge in the tournys...

It makes no sense.

"They", as far as any of us know, is just simply a random number generator that spits out rules and tournaments leading to a terrible schedule and incredibly repetitive tournaments.

It sucks that there aren't more Trad only tournaments, or fewer Adv only tournaments, but that's just the way things are. Hopefully it changes soon (there's much more diversity on Minna No Golf 5 server for the record).

My advice would be to practice Adv and compete in those tournaments where Traditional simply isn't an option. It'll be fun to say that you've won with both styles of play. ^^

They = A bunch of retarded monkeys.

Retarded monkeys yes!

Odd because this game has sooooo much more life left in it, and odd because were encouraged to buy 'extras', so would they not think to keep up the interest in the game by being diverce, keeping us wanting to buy these add ons.(i still aint gonna buy the costumes, hell no!!!!!!!!)

I think it was RD that said he didnt care for adverse characters/weather/clubs on the two toughest courses 95% of the time, cant blame the man really, i wouldnt like it either.

If an easier course was chosen for the G0 matches the standard of play is not going to be any less because the players are better, that one missed eagle putt could cost you the win at that level.

As it did for me yesterday, i played cars and inter in ladder match Euro 9h out, we all got -10 but i lost to the pair of them!!!! :'( The missed eagle putt was my downfall!

As for Trad/Adv cant see why you cant choose whatever you want for whenever you want, period.

I don't know who "they" are either, but they obviously seem to pick more advanced shots vs. traditional for tourneys. I will go out on a limb and say in the next version, traditional will be not be an option. Since advanced shots give you a slight edge on distance and adv.shots seem to be more of a requirement for tourneys, they are leaning towards having it as the only shot.

I think they just want to promote the new shot to get franchise familiars try it more. I was pure traditional until I realized my game had plateaued, not from the distance loss, but from the rare bad impact miss that can ruin a round. I never turtle or rabbit with advanced. I beleive they'll keep the traditional shot, possibly bumping up the power to match adv.

that is the biggest advantage I saw as well. Forget the power, remember when you played previous titles and you had 20% PI. That meant a bad round.

A week ago I set a record shooting -21 on safari long tee with a 27% PI. You can never have a round that way using the traditional method.

i have personaly thought about going back to using trad. It offers more of a challenge and I like bing puniched when I hit a terrible shot. In adv you can have an "Oh crap" shot and it end up 4 feet from the hole.

I prefer advanced but like the above poster said traditional adds that extra challenge for sure. I still use traditional from time to time in game rooms but never in tourneys.

I agree that the biggest disadvantage is not the decreased distance but the severe penalty when missing impact - shanks are far worse on trad. And that's crazy RD, mid 20's% PI and a record, when I'm on with trad and shooting well, my PI is > than 70% - and my personal best is 88.9% But anything below 50% = bad round.

That is the most disappointing feature in the game. That is what made HSG so great in my mind in the previous titles, reality. You have a great PI round, you probably will have a record. You don't have a good PI, you are going to have a long day. I guarantee you half of these people wouldn't be as good if it went back to the old methods.

And everyone wouldn't be using Anya.

look as i have said and my american cousins should know this as they are the top players at sales and marketing.

clap hanz wanted to promote adv did they not? thus penalising trad players....

everyone of us was a trad player obviously as it was the only option, i remember buying the game and playing trad as per usual for a week or so till i realised the benifits i was missing.

i think the next installment will see trad revert back to a more even keel with maybe just a 5y difference at worst between it and adv.

and their sales pitch worked of course as i for one will continue to play advance mode in the next chapter of HSG.

I've got several G0 wins with Traditional (one by 9 shots!). It's just a pain in the ass to use thouhg. :-\

i started off playing with trad, as Everybody's Golf: World tour is actually my first golf game i really got into.. i think i played the the ps1 game when i was like 7, but my attention span wasn't long enough to focus.

But i started playing advanced shots to make my game better. People say you should use trad, because it more of a challenge and more fun, but i find trad annoying and personally if i can get an advantage, ill take it..
and yes, i do use Anya anytime i can, espeically when trying to set new records, or playing ladder matches.
