its a condor i believe.

i say HSG game need to ban the "double eagle" term. , its leading kids on the slippery road of doom.

lets look at this closely, an eagle is -2 to the par of the hole a birdie is -1 to the hole, an albatross is -3 to the par of the hole so thus to DOUBLE something is........well quite clearly the way i was taught at school is correct.

a double eagle would mean -2 X 2 thus -4 which is clearly incorrect, a double eagle ( shivers ) is actually only 1.5 times the amount of an eagle, now no wonder kids nowadays cant add up.

therefore a double albatross would be -6 and a triple eagle would be -6

the more you scrutinise the "double eagle" wording the more you realise just how wrong it is.......

thankfully the european version calls it as it should " albatross"

I don't know what your problem is clint. America was built on doing things wrong and accepting that.

If you want to be right on everything, move to england.

clint_westwood

i certainly dont have a problem but it is clearly very very silly, trivial yes of course it is......

i guess with you working in the banking institution i could come in and make some tax free investments where i would be looking to make a tidy return of 1.5 x only to find you guys actually give me 2 x .........so it cant all be bad.

but yes the term is clearly wrong.....no matter how you add it up

i got two double birdies in a row at euro last night ;D

I would also prefer that the correct terms be used. Is "condor" the universally accepted name for it? :-\

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 12:11 PM
Yes. Condor is a hole-in-one for a par 5.

Clint, were you intentionally trying to be funny or do I just have a strange sense of humour? But yeah:

-1 Birdie
-2 Eagle
-3 Double Eagle/Albatross
-4 Condor

Oh... I see, you're British! The English and the Americans, separated only by a common language and all that. Cheers! :D

On Topic: That's a crazy shot! The person who made it, "WelpItsMe", has been trying for about a week to do it after someone else figured out you could drive a ball off the tee under the screen. I don't believe ClapHanz realized they made this possible. I wish there was some way to ask them.

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 12:43 PM
I don't think Clap Hanz probably realizes the power that can be abused with Turtling/Rabbit a shot.

Never take Clint seriously, he is always joking around. I think it has become a habit of me and him bantering back and forth :)

and is Clint British, why yes he is ;D

By the way, if you click on a person's name, it might show where they are from (if they decide to let people know).

So If you Click Clint's Profile, you can see what country he is from.

Can't believe people still discuss rabbit / turtle shots as being "abused". If this were true, it wouldn't be included in multiple versions of the game across multiple shot types. Congrats on the condor, it really is quite the accomplishment.

And of course, I'll go ahead and take credit here as the person who discovered a condor was possible in OT2 :)

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 01:57 PM
So you are saying that Clap Hanz, if it was a problem, would fix it?

I certainly don't see any merit to that. I just said I don't think Clap Hanz realises what is going on. I can't imagine it was their intention to make a par5 in 1 shot.

the_smug_one
11-05-2008, 02:40 PM
So... are you talking about rabbit / turtle shots, or the fact that a par 5 is reachable? Need you to be a bit more specific there.

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 02:46 PM
The fact that you can make a par 5 in one shot.

the_smug_one
11-05-2008, 03:00 PM
Agreed - I can't see any reason why they'd view a reachable par 5 as an issue, nor can I see why they'd want to change this.

Not so sure this was totally "unplanned" however, given the curious set up of hole #18 at Central Park.

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 03:06 PM
that is true I guess. I mean when you do make something 350 yards away, you should expect somebody to find a way to reach the green. But with all the nets and things you think they almost did that as a trap to mess with people for their second shot to the hole.

MasonR
11-05-2008, 05:04 PM
I think it's perfectly reasonable to assume that the creators knew 18 Central was reachable. They would probably be surprised to find that someone aced it, but I don't think it was all that unexpected.

I think they just got lazy with the points, maybe Team Points didn't speak enough with Team Courses&Characters, but it's not uncommon for Clap Hanz to screw up one or two point related issues.

Funny side note, you get more points for acing a par 4. You get the 400 ace points, 100 "Par 4" points, and 300 distance points (well 250+ 50). Weird to see that distance points are capped at 250.

As for rabbits/turtles, I thought that issues was dead for a long time. It's an intetionally programmed aspect of more than one game. They know it's there, it's not a bug and certainly won't be fixing it. Sorry, but people who call that cheating really stick in my craw.

Roughdawg4
11-05-2008, 05:15 PM
Just to clarify, I don't think it is cheating, I use it all the time. It is great when you know how to use it.

Open Tee 2 is really easy to use it. OOB I am careful when I use it, OT2 i use it all the time.

MasonR
11-05-2008, 05:23 PM
It's broken in OT2.

Like, really broken. You can still massively bone yourself though.

clint_westwood
11-07-2008, 04:18 AM
the thing is though i use it in G0 tours on OOB but i think people get the wrong idea that we use up all our power shots on T/R which is not the case, infact i think i never do it with Kratos or gloria in G0 , rarely with intermediate.......but certainly with novice..........erm what holes....

maybe hole 1 if rain to reach fairway.

hole 6 and 7 depending on the pin position, so that im not blocked out by trees....

also the risk factor comes into it, if i am leading after 9 holes then the chances of me then taking the risk on say hole 12 is slim

lulz

my girlfriend had a t-shirt made for me a couple of months ago for my birthday

the front just said "lal" (of course, my brilliant invention meaning 'laughed a little') and the back said 'How are you!"

because who asks "How are you!" with an exclamation point

you gotta love poor translation

oh yeah, and uh, par 5 aces r rad

Awwwwwww that's too cute. I wish I was in a relationship where I could openly say "lal" and then explain it to her without sounding like a complete idiot.. *sigh*
Keepers are rare these days.

Oh and plum, I'm anxiously waiting to be part of your ranking-thingy. "Hehehe."

Oh, again, and nicely done Welp! A sick shot, even though it says "404 file not found" when I check the link.. I need to dig up EG2 again and remove the DJM-game I'm currently playing with ze psp.

I really do need to make a better quality video of it. maybe I'll do that in the next couple days since just about nobody is playing ot2 :(
