some minnna players hostile?

anyone of you guys/girls got hostile reactions???
i always thought all minna people were very nice people (in fact all Japanese guys/girls lol, they just seem so nice). so i always liked japan :D.

but the strange thing was when i won my 1st g0 there. i went over to talk to a guy called pompom(something) cuz i thought he might be a HSG player, he knew English pretty well. dunno why but he called me an idiot or something because i asked if he spoke English!!!??? and then he said he blocked me lol! omg! well i just called him a looser and left :(

never had that kind of experience. maybe because I'm bouncing between g2 and g1 and not high level player so they are less hostile to me. :-\

I played a room with pompom once, he was very nice to me, but he did not have nice things to say about some people from america.

Sometimes when I am in the lobby talking english to a friend some players will go past us doing the "wtf" attitude..... :P

So now I only say "nice eagle" and such, as I dont not speak japanese, I am american, so why pretend that I can?

i'm not sure how they feel about it. would be curious to know.

i remember ages ago when i first started there was a jp player on the server who had picked up our game i guess for a time - was blazing through g3 with unreal scores at the time (now pretty standard) - everyone went bezerk. but i guess that was more to0 the point of coming on with all that experience when we were new. i'm sure 99% of them could care less and welcome the competition.

i agree with lob, i was just very shocked. but then again i felt high on winning lol so i didnt really care. im gonna ask shihiko what jpn guys think about us/eu guys coming over to them.
btw lob i think i know his name just a bit blurry atm, he was the 1st to ever achieve g0 rank i think... if i remember correctly he might had a perfect record as well. i remember i was really amazed lol. guess 6month hear start helped a bit :D

Some people suck, that's about all there is. There are plenty of people who are nice and fun to play with but there will always be jerks. pom's just another person who dislikes Americans for no good reason, I've seen him slam Americans on Shihiko's site in that scrolling chat thing. Very unclassy, very much needs a boot in the ass.

Good thing is Americans <i>aren't</i> generally disliked in Japan (culturally, at least) and there's plenty of nice friendly people playing Minna.

He calles everyone an idiot without apparent reasoning or logic.. I once tried to engage in a conversation with him (basically to find out what's wrong..) but just coulnd't get anything out of him except profanities, bad jokes and 'lol's at his own bad jokes..

I'm chuckling.. He called me an american retard as well. I was shocked and told him I was actually finnish. There was a small gap after which he called me an idiot again and told me to leave him alone. I once got a real superboost of serial swearing after I asked him if he was french.. I smiled then very widely ;D
