I'd say; control and power, with spin on a solid third.

I would say Control as number one with spin at a very very close second.
Spin is priceless on Peaks and Crown.

So many side spin haters in this forum.
I like to use side spin on almost every shot I make, unless it's a short chipper.

I hardly EVER use sidespin....maybe i need to start incorporating it into my toolbox.

Depends on the course and especially the character.
Highlands/Okin/Euro, you can go really low if you've got enough power to reach the short par 4s one these courses. All the greens are easy to putt as well, putting less emphasis on control.
Safari and Oceania. Enough power to reach the par 5s on these courses supplemented with healthy control and spin stats.
Peaks/Crown spin is more of an asset than anything. You need to hold the greens, and being hole high is much more important than being perfectly on line.

i try to find the most well rounded setup that incorporates the best of all the attributes when selecting my player/club/ball :P

I usually always go for what ever set up gives me the most spin, followed by control and power. I do not get enough pi so I need the highest spin rating possible to hold the greens on the courses we play in g0.

Definetely control IMO. There's nothing like lining up a perfect shot, hitting it with perfect impact and then........STRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Control and power was a must for me when playing HSG4 tourneys. Spin was useful(especially topspin and backspin) too. Gotta luv those risers and homing balls.

To clarify, I was joking about sidespin. I use sidespin in plenty of my shots, but there's no need to have a big sidespin stat - in fact, a big SS stat can actually hurt you since the ball's wider flight path (left-to-right or vice versa) opens the door for snagging trees or other obstacles. Only exception to this rule would be no backspin tournaments, since a sidespin flight path can be a useful tool for "playing" into the green on approach shots.
I think the relative value of attributes depends largely on the specific character or character-type that you are using. For example, I don't mind using big magnum with sophie since it adds ~20 yards to her shot even though I have to give up a turn of the control stat. However, for intermediate and expert characters I would never go magnum since the incremental distance (which remains ~20 yards) offers relatively less benefits to a character with decent power, even though it still forces the same full letter grade reduction to your control stat.

power, spin, then control. the object is to get as close to the pin as possible, if not smash it with a riser. really, more power, lower club on approach(compensates for spin), and with all the variables in the game, wind, slope, +/- 2%, not to mention human error, how much diff does a couple clicks on the control catagory offset that? really? ill admit the the horrid suzuki magnum big air ball setup is a crapshoot. bourbon is the only thing to help w control there.

You've got the perfect mindset for the jp server, rino.

Control is my prime concentration, if I lack it, I won't be happy.

control comes first then power.....if you think about it , no point having a A or B in spin if you cant reach the green in the first place at crowns???

You can reach any green on Crown (Long) barring extreme conditions with any novice character. Even in the rain as long as we're not talking 9mph right in your face.

Control Control Control
I wont even play a tourney if I cant use a character with at least a mid-B control rating. Ive tried a number of times to use C control ratings, but the 30yrd spray pattern is just garbage.
Power is a definite 2nd.

Since venturing onto the Minna server I've learned to get comfortable with a lower control stat. It can be frustrating, but if you can manage a solid PI % (north of 50% at the very least) you'll minimize hitting those painful "spray" shots. On average, you're still going to end up further from the pin with lower control, but this can be made up for by stepping up your putting skills - that's how they roll on the Minna server any way.

Still no votes for sidespin yet. I guess e1 agrees with ya Rd. And I agree too. However, sidespin can be useful in some situations. Im sure about that
bcuz I would use it whenever I got in a very sticky situation in HSG4.

yeah I mean sidespin has its uses. Its fills all the choice options for the poll ;D

Well in my opinion, as a trad player the factor differs for different character classes. Like:
Novice: i'll focus on Spin becoz when trying to get on green by wood clubs (due to lower trad distance power) i'll want the ball to stop rolling.
Intermediate: will focus on Power as higher chance to get par5's 2 shot on & par4's iron clubs on.
Expert: will focus on Impact as its harder to get it perfect in trad.
But ofcourse, Control will be the most important for me over all.

ok guys. you can have all the control u want. i guess ur preferences fit ur game. i personally cant remember my last "stray" tee shot was. im a turtle addict, and for some reason i manage near perfect pi off the tee as opposed to my approaches. still trying to figure that out. and if i were to consider control important at all it would'nt be for off the tee. it would be for my approaches. and like i said, all the variables seem to cancel that out in terms of importance. my point is lower clubs have more loft. if u end up 30 yards further away from the pin w S spin rating, im going to stick the green easier w/ a C spin and control rating because of loft alone.

hmm first post. I'd say spin, because i find spin to be slightly more important than control for the style i play. For example the g0 i won, i sacrifice a bit of control with kratos and took the turbo spin ball over pin hole, pushing the spin just to an A
