Can anyone explain the tourney points system to me? I know that longer distance get more points and closer to cup get more points which is nothing new and rough/ sand are points deduction but sometimes player with ball farther to cup got more points than me [ with lesser drive no less ]
these are things I know:
Longer drive = more points
closer to cup = more points [ 4 different points level? ]
chip/rise = more points [ no surprise ]
very long putt = massive points
Again: I keep track on points when it's close game but sometimes the points seem strange.
Note: Most japanese fashioned Bigmag/Inf with novice and intermed is that have anything to do with longer drive = more points or just part of their strategies.

i think its 20pts for landing in the fairway. not length of drive. 20 for landing on green. then pts go up closer to the pin. then pts for chips, more for further chips. also there are points for hitting the pin and water skip. Try playing shikko in a pts match. he will show you all of them in one hole.

the ultimate skill for being good in pts matches is the backdoor putt.

the ultimate skill for being good in pts matches is the backdoor putt.
Or just being able to lay up next to the green in a spot that will allow for an easy chip in.
This is why I don't like pts matches. It unfairly rewards chip ins over someone who hits the green and makes the putt.

Flaggers = 50 pts
Spirals = 50 pts
Risers = 20 pts
Pin Shot = 30 pts
there's more but i'm too lazy to continue.

-20 for the sand pits, probably more for OB or water but can't think what they are, maybe -60).
Isn't the chipping a fixed amount for the chip in plus a point for every yard (or something like that)?

I copied this from my walkthrough :D
Homing and water skipping both accumulate for each one you get. To get the points for waterskipping though, you need to not land in the water or you will lose all the points.

I think the max chip distance for points you can get is 300 yards and you get no chipping bonus for an albatross ( never understood that one)
