I'm playing the new course now, let's just say its different. Here are the details for Reg Tee 18H:
Hole 1: 468y Par4 - Dogleg left fairway (Rabbit Territory), 2nd shot into lower elevation, flatish green.
Hole 2: 327y Par4 - Possible inone through trees, green surrounded by water, hilly green.
Hole 3: 415y Par4 - Left, right, left fairway, 2nd shot into big green surrounded by bunkers.
Hole 4: 233y Par3 - Similar set up to good ol' crown/oceania, 22.3y elev drop, green surrounded by scrub
Hole 5: 580y Par5 - Windy fairway, tough to reach in 2, OB behind hilly green.
Hole 6: 188y Par3 - 17.3y elev drop to small dome shaped green, pi a must, lots of bunkers.
Hole 7: 467y Par4 - windy fairway, trees in way off tee, uphill 2nd shot, water behind green.
Hole 8: 426y Par4 - Fairway banks right around large crater, uphill 2nd to very hilly green.
Hole 9: 583y Par5 - Very narrow&windy fairway, water and ob all around, lots of sand.
Hole 10: 478y Par4 - Narrow but straight fairway, large green - easiest hole so far.
Hole 11: 180y Par3 - Slight elevation to very thin green on a mound surround by bunkers and scrub.
Hole 12: 599y Par5 - Thin partitioned faiway, straight t shot, dogleg left 2nd over crater and rocks if going for green in 2 which looks a tough ask.
Hole 13: 388y Par4 - 25y drop to very thin fairway surrounded by sand and over trees, (shortcut out to left) 2nd into very slanted green.
Hole 14: 326y Par4 - Straight fairway that banks sharp to right, lots of trees in front of thin sloped green. Possible green in one for big hitters and people with balls!
Hole 15: 234y Par 3 - 8y drop to thin green set on an island surrounded by river of molten lava.
Hole 16: 466y Par 4 - Straight t shot. Uphill 2nd shot to very thin long green with big bunker in front.
Hole 17: 589y Par 5 - T shot to thin windy fairway, 2nd shot has volcano right in path (possible short cut from T onto 16th green - to investigate) downhill shot to smallish hilly green.
Hole 18: 481y Par4 - Straight T shot, uphill second shot to largish green slopes back to front, bunker and water traps all around.

Summary: The fairways are tight, the course is long, the rough is thick - Control needed here. The green are a cross between Oceania and Crown the fairs are Peaks and Safari but thinner. The environment is a hinderance - tree, rocks, volcanos, craters, dinosaurs, lava lakes, flying molton balls. The weather is similar to Oceania but with a lot more wind. It's a more challenging course and will take some getting used to, there are some obvious short cuts and a few more to find i'm sure. Tourneys will be a bit different here as it looks like one hole could kill a round.

this course sounds really fun and a worthwhile challenge. looking forward to coming out in EG:WT/HSG:OOB

It will be good. Does anyone know if it will features in g0 tourns here in europe, as we are limited to Oceania, Links and Peaks, and a bit of variation would cool.

yes it will be added to the G0 schedule, unfortunately i would love to say that its because its a tough course and i am sure it is, but if it was easier than highland i can assure you it would still be added to the G0 schedule............why??

because its a DLC and it means those who dont buy will miss out on some tours, thats the facts of the matter.....they want our money money money........well i am a stubborn git !!!! so erm........

i am at least waiting 4 hours after its release before buying it.........that'll show clap hanz not to mess with me ???

Just played this on minna for first time. Pretty awesome course, and was rather difficult...as least to me, hehe. Trees are everywhere, i can imagine a +2 Trees restriction being as dangerous as a +2 Sand, as I hit the trees more often than i hit the bunker. On one lie, i was DIRECTLY behind a grazing stegasaurus (the one that walks on all fours with plates running up and down his spine). It was huge, couldn't see anything past him. Of course my next shot just went directly through his body, as he didn't scurry off like the kangaroos do on oceania.

Going to take a lot of practice, there are a lot of tricky (risky) approaches.

Can't wait for this to be released to oob!

Definitely a fun course, there's quite a few Xs out there if you aren't careful or know when to say when.

Played a stroke game with smug last night and screwed around looking for some options off the tee. He showed me this one shot where if you get all the way down the rock formation (#5 I think) you can get a 470y drive. I'll be taking a few cracks at it, probably not in a tournament.

#2 is a great hole, I've only reached it twice, on my first attempt, then I went 0/6, and I finally landed it again last night (with a spiral eag woot).

So far I've not managed better than -16 front tee and -13 back tee (-13 got me a pod in a Kate tournament lol).

I really see people online struggling with the course, which is just fantastic as far as I'm concerned. A lot of the risk really isn't worth the award, but the few drivable par 4s really make your trigger finger start to itch.

Think i found that one on accident. Was actually amazed that it kept goin and goin' and was so thankful that there wasn't lava at the bottom of the hill that i didn't even bother looking at my drive distance...lol.

The rock formation you hit into on hole #5 carries the ball to essentially the same spot (assuming you don't go OB) on regular and on long tee, but you're starting that much further back in the long tee set-up, hence the additional distance (470 vs. 450 yards)

As an aside, my ~470 yard drive with Kratos on #5 LT was actually into a slight headwind... crazy stuff.

Guess I blocked it out, but I just remembered how our front nine went.

For the love of god people don't take rain lightly at the new course. It must've been 5 or 6 holes (maybe even #2 through #8?) with rain and strong wind...it wasn't pretty.

Yep, rain and wind definitely took the course to a whole new level - probably the standard for tournament conditions once this course finds its way to the international server... good times.

nope. maybe someone else has insight on it. i've looked everywhere.

i'm just speculating based on the lag time between minna getting something and us getting something. and it seems highly unlikely that we wouldn't get a shiny new $6 (or 7, whatever it is) course at some point. it sucks that it happens that way, but it's a ghost town compared to minna participation.

i have wishful thinking that by the end of january we will have new course/character set No 1/ and leaderboard ranking in place......

if that happened i would spend less time on minna

p1um5mu991er
12-06-2008, 12:52 PM
now that you mentioned that, c double, i would definitely say that if we had the leaderboard and rankings like minna, there would be a boatload of people online.

a BOATLOAD. a medium-sized boatload.

ok, a full canoe.

New course is awesome, but very hard, music a bit loud and annoying.... but has fun shortcuts if you are a risk taker!! Got my yen card today, fun play! Toro on the other hand, is a bit hard to play with.... Oh did anyone mention the sand traps that are the whole side of the fairway?? Yep, no rough.... nothing but sand.... scary!!!

Too bad they got rid of the "house" lobby, was so cute, especially the fact that it had a toilet in it..... (guess you dont need to tell anyone WHY you are not responding to them.....) LOL

So I should expect this on OOB in about 3 months then.

Oh by the way, awesome looking kids. Best of luck with the one on the way :-*

From what I hear, this course isn't coming to the international server. In fact, I believe Clap Hanz will be doing an update to take back the Oceania course. On the plus side, I do believe they'll let you guys keep Alex for those Alex / rain tournaments that everyone seems to enjoy so much.
