I'll preface this post by admitting that I probably wouldn't believe this story if someone else had posted it. Sadly, the following anecdote is 100% true:

I just finished playing a 9h (in) G0 tournament at Nakagawa with Beginner characters only. Was trailing by two shots (and a lot of points) going into the final hole, but being the nice guy that I am I had every intention of finishing out regardless. What followed was easily my most dramatic finish in this game. I managed an alby on the final hole (with a zero loyalty beginner, ftr) and passed up #1 and #2 (who birdied) who had the same score but obviously lower points (my 771 points on the final hole provided a decent lift). Everyone in the tournament was showering me with "great alby" and "wow, incredible" type comments as I sat atop first place. However, as soon as the tournament ended the following podium screen came up and it showed that I had earned third place. <b>Yep, I was given third place instead of my win.</b> For a while I just sat there, staring at the screen in disbelief, thinking I must be missing something. But I wasn't missing anything, this retarded game just totally screwed me over.

I'm at a loss for words, as this seems beyond idiotic. I have no idea what kind of super lame glitch might have caused something as ridiculous as this, but it's completely unacceptable. Makes me want to stay away from my PSP for quite some time, so as to lower the risk that I simply launch it out the window.

I do believe you are telling the truth but I doubt a glitch would knock you down. Definetly wierd.

That is really unfortunate.
It could be a bug but I don't see how it would not award you a victory.
Maybe it was hacked by another player or something like that.

And to clarify, I was shown in first on both of the pages where you are allowed to take a final picture - the group portrait and the group scores / points page, which made it that much more baffling. Only potential driver of a bug could be the fact that I didn't start the hole until the timer had mostly run down (since I was doing laundry at the time), but I certainly didn't time out or anything.

That's crap. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that some loser found a way to record wins for himself even if he doesn't win. Who were you playing?

I could check the snapshot to find out the names, but I do recall being the only non-JP player in the tournament. Still, I am more inclined to think this was the result of a game glitch than an individual hack. I say this not only because both players that finished ahead of me were very cordial throughout the match (since this wouldn't really prove anything), but also because any hack would presumably have dropped me from first to second place (i.e., I would have stayed one spot ahead of the one who didn't use a hack) or maybe all the way down to last place... third place just seems odd.

Funny thing is, I wasn't intending to use a beginner character with 0 loyalty in the first place. I'd joined the tournament at the last second and in my rush to get in I accidentally selected the wrong character. Was pretty annoyed when I hit the first tee and was equipped with std / std and 4 power boosts...
