What the heck do you need a guide book for. That is crazy.

I bet the guide helps out a lot for newer players, and some of the lines on certain holes might be new to even experienced players, but I doubt this really has much to do with the ridiculous players.

No chance that the very best of the best are relying on some guide book for success. Having learned a ton from playing this game, I know that there is no way to simply memorize your way to great play.

For example, I can remember some time ago when people discussed how much to adjust power in order to account for something as simple as the slope of your lie. While lots of people gave out good rules of thumb, the fact of the matter is that your adjustments for slope depend on wind conditions, club selection, spin rating, impact range, shot type... etc. At the end of the day, I think the very best players just have an amazing "feel" for all aspects of the game.

And really, i can see alot of people having bought this. would think that it would be nice to read 10minutes of material and have effectively played 30 or 40 rounds. be a real time saver. for first time players you could breeze through the challenges instead of actually having to try starting on the first level. i don't know that it would be worth $20 some odd dollars (of course that is at playsia, probably only cost $5 in japan).

-1 for posting in an older thread, but +3 for nailing SPI on the irony.
