Hello everyone, I'm new here, and I just wanted some help signing into the Playstation Network. Everything was going well until I ran into the part where you enter your online ID(the part after entering the security question).I'm using this Mew account for it, but I get this message: "The online ID you entered cannot be used. Please enter another online ID." Well, I tried just that, but I got the same message.I feel so lost now. Can anyone here help me out please? I would really appreciate it because I want to play Out of Bounds online. I was told to create a PSN user name in order to play online.

I hope to see you guys on the links soon.

Either the Mew123 username was already taken by someone else, or it fails to pass PSN's multilingual swear-banhammer.

"or it fails to pass PSN's multilingual swear-banhammer."

What do you mean by that?

"or it fails to pass PSN's multilingual swear-banhammer."

What do you mean by that?

PSN usernames are not to contain any of the swear words in any language that is recognized by the PSN's language servers (or something like that), and consequently, if Mew ends up being a swear word in, say, some semi-obscure language in a country that PS3's are sold, it's no dice for you.

They have a very exhaustive list of words you can't use. For fun, when you're able to get online, you should try typing in the word "after" in a HSG:OOB lobby and watch it turn into ***** because of the banhammer.

I guess they hate pokemon :)

He means it could be a bad word in some language. Someone probably has that ID though.

Just found out that someone else had taken this account. I changed it to Mew43. I can now play online, but I'm unable to chat because of parental controls, even though those controls are turned off. I guess it's because I'm 16. Is there any way I can manage to chat online for OB?

You can text chat in lobbies, tournaments, and gamerooms, and voice chat in match play gamerooms

Still can't text online. Not like it matters though because I'm more of the quiet type. Although I would like to reply to compliments made by others to show that I care and that I am a nice person. As for voice chat, it's not for me, sorry.

Press the R2 button and see if it brings up the on screen key pad, and do simple text messages.

Can that really be blocked by a parental level? I always assumed that just govered what games you can play.

And if online is considered seperate (which is possible) do onlines all have the same ratings. Say Hot Shots Golf compared to maybe Resistance :)

Yes, chat can be blocked by parental level. I remember when I made a second account one and a half years ago and went into the lobbies. R2 and keyboard were dead. Don't remember if I could see what other people wrote, but I think so. In tournaments/game rooms the chat screen was disabled, all you could see was the scores. As I'm the only one using my PS3 I fixed it later, but it was interesting to see.

The sad part about it is that other people, who are able to chat, can't see that you don't have the ability, so it can easily seem like you're ignoring them or something. In a tournament you can't even see the Congrats-messages for a good shot/victory/pod etc. and reply to them either...

I was able to put in the right parental code, but even with the parental level off, I still can't text. What do I do? Do I have to live without commenting?

It sound silly but I think the parental control has to be on.
