Lets see if I have this correct. This game is basically HSGOOB. Just lets you link to the Japanese server which is apparently better? How much would this game cost in U.S. dollars?

Yes, thats it in a nutshell. You are basically buying the exact same game but you're paying 50 or 60 bucks just to have the privilege of playing on their server, not to mention the other 40-50 bucks you're going to shell out on a Japanese PSN card to buy the courses and characters.
LOL....just saying that out loud i kind of feel stupid for going through the whole thing. ???

I think Minna can be had at playasia.com for $39.99 (not including shipping). But the yen cards for DLC are pricey. You're talkin $30-60 depending on how much you want to get (and where you get the card or pin number). I think the 2 courses are at least $8 each and the 4 characters are at least $4 each. It adds up! You're talking minimum $80 to get the full experience.
I paid a little over $60 for OOB and all the DLC save the costumes. Put them together and you might as well have bought a used PSP and Open Tee 2 (with integrated world server, though heinous quitting problems from what I've heard).

If you love the franchise Minna is the only way to go. Granted it is the same game but all the extra characters and courses come out first in Japan. On that note I wish I would've bought Minna when it was released instead of waiting 5 months for them to change the words to english. The bottom line is that Minna offers far deeper competition, more diverse tournament selection, more items, and special events. For me it was an easy decision.

Yeah, thats probably the key phrase for this whole discussion. If you're just a casual player, then you're probably already satisfied with your play on the english servers.
