View Full Version : My First G0 Podium

After 17 attempts I finally got my first podium in G0
Silver Peaks Long Tee, Novice
No hard rain (snow) but it did snow for 3 or 4 holes.
I was using INF/INF and Sophie
I had a rare bogey free round and finished -11 for a 4th overall (5 pod's available)
I just want to say thank you to all those who are pushing me to get better!
Looks like I might just get to stick around in G0

fantastic rowdy, one more pod and your safe buddy,
the first is the hardest i think and once you get the safety zone of no demotion then the pressure is off
well done , you will win one pretty soon i think ;)

Good going mate, My moneys on you following up that pod with another very soon and then it'll be a win - your confidence will be up so get in some more tournies ASAP.

Thanks clint!
I've been bubble boy a couple of times so I was hoping it was just a matter of time.
The hardest thing I find is before the match starts looking at the competitions stats
Many have been doing quite well in G0, so you look at that and immedialty you feel
like you deserve to be near the bottom. I think once you get rolling and get used to
playing the courses/conditions you start to find a groove.
With both Mace & Cars above me in 1st & 2nd I feel like I played a pretty solid round.

I feel ya, Rowdy. At 75 G0's played and only 3 pods I very often get that feeling you described ahead of a tournament. And then I screw up a hole, convincing me further, and then there's no way back up again...
I got my first pod in my very first game, yet I never got rolling or found my groove. And unless I find it very soon I'll be G1 again... For a while, at least. ;) What bugs me the most is that in those 72 tournaments that I didn't pod I must have at least 20 where I ended just 1 (ONE!!!) place behind the podiums... :(
Hope you do better than me! Congrats on your first pod at least! :)

what, dre, you mean aiming for 200 wins isn't exciting?
i can totally tell you're bored because it's great when you're in a tournament
if you're on you end up winning but when you miss a hole or two you're outy (doesn't matter for you anyway)
never know what mr. dre will do
and well done, rowdy. i only had 5 pods in my first 70 games and look at the massive stud that i am today
that's a joke kids but seriously, keep tweaking your game (and be open-minded about doing so) and you'll likely be in the mix a majority of the time.

Congrats on your first podium Rowdy, one more and you will have more points than me :)
I only have one 2nd place podium I think in 8 g0 tournaments. :)

congrats on the pod.
i hear you about looking at the stats. i do it before every tourney and being new to G1 maybe its not the best. i think i physc myself out even before the game starts and because of that i will often start with a bad par or bogey

Good afternoons work for me on minna: 4 tourneys, 2 pods, 1 second. Missed pod on other tourney by 1 point to guy called Hiro who's very friendly towards us english speaking folks. At least i'm safe in G1 until tourney 40.

Yes, great tourney Rowdy, you were right up there with Mace and Cars till they pulled away on the last few holes but great pod nonetheless.

Congrats on your pod!
Success in G0 has everything to do with confidence, particularly when you're new to the grade. I was all but ready to give up on HSG until I finally got my first podium after 25 unsuccessful attempts (pretty sure I got the very last pod spot). Once I realized I had the ability to pod, the change in confidence was night and day. And about 30 minutes later, I had a G0 win to go along with that pod.

Congrats m8 i just got my second win in g0 a few days back and another 4 pods in 62 games. It takes some getting used to g0 weather but you will find as you enter more tourneys how much better you will be because of it.

Great to see results kicking in rowdy, that was a somewhat hellish game and you played consistently, which is the key to the more difficult G0 set ups. I'm sure I'll see you up at the top again very soon.
Oh, and I 2nd smug's post, as per usual.

way to go rowdy. the first pod is always good, great way to get started.. I remember my first result in g0, i actually won.. dunno where that came from. 27 tourns now, 3 wins, 1 2nd and 2 places.. i'm getting good at this :)
got the second today, hitting -15 peaks long tee, expert only std std.
sled_dogs hit -16, both of us about 5 shots ahead at top.

I'll never forget my first pod. It was my 34th game for crying out loud. Peaks Intermediate. I had to get two aces to get it, but was sweet when it happened.
Well done rowdybusch! :D

Good afternoons work for me on minna: 4 tourneys, 2 pods, 1 second. Missed pod on other tourney by 1 point to guy called Hiro who's very friendly towards us english speaking bleeps. At least i'm safe in G1 until tourney 40.
Good job Inter!
I'm thinking about picking up minna, but I am happy just competing here in G0
The variety and participation factors are what would drive me to get minna
But since we have made most of our own fun here in OOB/EGWT it is making it
a tough decision, especially since I don;t really have enough time to play anyways.

Thank you all for the encoraging words & sharing your experiences in G0
My putting still needs work but it is coming along.
For me it is all about the confidance. I know I can play a good round I just
have to keep more consistant and practice putting a lot.
I have yet to have and epic round on any of the courses but I have some
solid scores on a few 18H's
Looking forward to battling all of you in future G0 tours!
