View Full Version : Probably going to leave :/

Hi guys I'm sorry for posting this, but I'm thinking about leaving HSG, I mean we haven't gotten any new HSG news, and I feel like HSG just doesn't care enough for the Console versions anymore with hearing that they were going to skip a new HSG game for the PS3 and go to the PS4, I'm sad to say that it might be over for me.

I love the series, but I feel like they won't release any new information anytime soon, and well this game has just been sitting on the side collecting dust, I know most of you will say go get better at it. But I honestly don't care for being the best, or better, I just love seeing the new characters, and new unlock courses. Sad to say that this game is gone stale for me now.

regurgitation, unfortunately. very disappointing if they're just going to pluck a 4-year old game out of the pile because it's golf, a sport requiring certain movements that you can replicate in front of your tv.

for kratos' sake, just barf out some crappy course that was never finished...anything

Guys that little movement thing doesn't work with me, since I'm not spending 90 bucks for a stupid Wii controler. Look if they don't release a new golf course when this update comes, then Its going bye bye, alright? I just want a new golf course or a character somethign to keep be entertained for a bit longer.

There's a Hot Shots Golf game coming out for the PSVita so be patient.

I already pre-ordered both, so looking foward to playing against a few peeps here even if I lose.

As for myself I'm obviously going to bye other games as they are released.

Can't turn the lights out, as there are still people inside. Should perhaps spend a little time developing a machine that replaces a draught excluder as you close the door. That would be useful.

Just re-hang the doors in the room you wish to keep draught free so they open outwards.

I don't think anyone was being overtly negative. People come and go. And threads change direction at the whim of the next poster, such is the nature of forums. It's not about whether people care or not, it's about entertaining.

I was raised on unsalted butter. It's the fat content that leaves the taste. I get it if I over indulge on crisps too (2 pack max). 10st 7? You must be 4 foot tall :)

I have to disagree. Although there are degrees of negativity the comments made towards Blaze were definitively negative. They were not hidden or disguised by sarcasm which makes them overt.

Perhaps I threw in an extra "t" and it should have read "overly".

That said, you have to understand, Stan, there is history here which you may not be party to. Some people have seen this stuff before and are going to react in a resigned, eye-rolling manner.

Although I think young Blaze should accomplish all there is to accomplish in this game before being so vocal about needing another one. Although there are no trophies and no-one's suggesting he should become a gnarled old veteran like me and still be playing the damn game when really he should know better, play the game and achieve a goal. Win a G0. Hell, win 30 G0s. 100 G0s. -10 on all 9 holes, -20 on all 18 holes, get to G0, whatever. Achievement earns respect and an instant nod should the next installment appear. If you make a noise, and you want to be heard, it is better to make that noise from a "been there, done that" place as it adds significant weight to your opinion.

I have been playing this game since day one and following this site almost from its inception. I used to play as "Decapolis" perhaps you remember.

I remember when Clint-Westwood announced his departure from the game. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

My remark was not aimed at the negative commenters. It was made to offer encouragement to Blaze.

Being a good person earns my respect and in my opinion thats all Blaze has ever been.

Some people choose to leave with a fanfare, some by going round upturning every table on the way out and others prefer to slip out quietly without a word. The vast majority choose the latter path. Clint had set himself his goal and what he was going to do when he achieved it. People doubted whether he could go cold turkey (indeed he did have a small relapse), but he did. He never made the fuss though.

I agree he never made a fuss. He gave his reasons, stated his case and moved on.

Blaze did the same thing and was belittled for it.

I suppose this whole topic is now moot. but I find myself bewilderd by the insensitivity of some people towards the feelings of others.

Marrow_Farmer
07-12-2011, 10:57 AM
For the record had I been an old timer back then I would made light of Clint's retirement announcement and may even have done a close the door gag but as a noob I felt silence was the best option. Also his announcement (IIRC) was retiring from this site not the game.

dimskill
07-12-2011, 11:55 AM
The argument is however if you make a fuss, you are always going to attract a certain amount of negative publicity. Clint was a well-known "face" both here and in the game, Blaze isn't, so more people are going to say "so what?" at such an announcement. When Elvis leaves the building everyone wants to know, but when Norman leaves the building, there is shrugging of shoulders.

Personally, I'd rather everyone stayed with the game, but that isn't gonna happen...

Marrow_Farmer
07-12-2011, 12:21 PM
Personally I don't mind if Elvis, Clint or Blaze decide to leave the room but when they feel the need to announce their departure they will politely be asked to close the door behind them. If having a giggle on the back of someones (IMO) pointless post is insensitive then hands up I'm guilty and will continue to be guilty as long as this site is alive.

Clayton Boyzone jnr III doing it every day for like a year hasn't helped though! :p

Sobering news for you HSG faithful... Stanley G. Canyon was arrested today. As you may know, in the elderly, the mind if first to go and it was no different with Stan. He seems to have thought he was going to spend the evening at my house, but broke the terms of his probation by spending it at the neighbor's house instead (yes, they found his dentures on their sons' nightstand) and the police report mentioned 3 counts of "Hot Dog Hide and Seek" with their pre-teen sons?!? Evidently it was a cook-out gone wrong or something. Anyhow, if he doesn't return anytime soon, that's the reason. Please go back to whatever toast topping topics you were on before this rude interruption.

It's called 'dripping toast' and you can use most types of meat juice. My Grandparents used to have it, I remember as a kid asking what it was and they said "animal fat" So of course I went home and tried it, except I used Lard! FAIL :o

Dad spoke of being offered lard sandwiches to take to school as well... he usually decided to just eat bread. Could you imagine sitting at the lunch trying to swap lunches and being "that kid"? "Ummm, hey guys, anyone wanna trade their PB&J for this lard sammich?" "No?!?" "Huh?"

My old chap is a Yorkshire lad and always used to go on about bread and dripping so one day we got him to show us how to harvest said dripping. You just pour all the meat juice/fat into a container and leave in the fridge, the fat seperates and leaves 2 layers (can't remember but I think the fat sank), the clear (ish) layer is the dripping and the cloudy crap is the fat. I looked absolutley gross but tasted superb.

I do remember one fine day in 1978 (I know this because the sea was paying a visit to the neighbourhood, and our living room was basking in a foot and a half of crystal clear sea water) when, because our fridge wasn't working but our free standing gas cooker was we had rump steak sandwiches for breakfast and bread with dripping for lunch. Marvellous. Misty-eyed nostalgia ftw. That said, as I don't want to destroy the romantic imagery of the past, I haven't had dripping since.
